Kim Se-ui, the head of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute who is currently under arrest and indicted on charges including the spread of false information about actor Kim Soo-hyun, has released a letter from detention on his 50th birthday, appealing to subscribers for financial support and political backing.

On June 26, the Garo Sero Institute YouTube channel aired a broadcast featuring a handwritten letter from Kim, who stated he wrote it from the Seoul Detention Center. During the broadcast, director Lee Han, the general director of the musical Park Chung-hee, read the letter on Kim's behalf.

In the letter, Kim reiterated his stance that his arrest is unjust, stating, "Once the trial begins, the truth and my innocence will eventually be revealed." He also expressed his personal feelings toward his family, noting that his mother is his biggest concern, while adding that the Garo Sero Institute has not been operating properly since his incarceration.

Kim further claimed, "Being in the Seoul Detention Center, I often run into President Yoon Suk Yeol and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo while walking through the hallways. My heart aches and I am deeply saddened to see them looking so gaunt." He continued by appealing for support, saying, "I can clearly hear all of you chanting for President Yoon Suk Yeol in the detention center parking lot. I believe President Yoon will also draw great strength from your enthusiastic chants."

Previously, Kim did not attend the first trial held on June 25 regarding the stalking and intimidation case involving YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won). Kim's side had requested a postponement and a closed-door trial, citing threats to his personal safety, but the requests were denied. It was reported that correctional authorities have since placed Kim in a solitary cell for management purposes.

Kim also repeatedly mentioned YouTuber Eun Hyun-jang, who holds a 50 percent stake in Garo Sero Institute, asserting, "Garo Sero Institute must never be taken over by Eun Hyun-jang." It is reported that Kim has filed a complaint against Eun for stalking and intimidation.

Finally, he emphasized that donations to the Garo Sero Institute have decreased since his arrest, making operations difficult, and appealed for continued support and encouragement.

Meanwhile, Kim was arrested and indicted on charges including the dissemination of false information claiming that actor Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor, as well as releasing a manipulated audio file. Recently, JTBC reported that an analysis by the Supreme Prosecutors Office's forensic science division found signs of audio editing, such as interruptions and frequency band discrepancies, indicating that the audio had been re-recorded from another device.
