A YouTuber who repeatedly directed verbal abuse and threats toward other content creators and viewers has been referred to the prosecution.

The Bucheon Wonmi Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced today, June 29, that it referred a YouTuber with 500,000 subscribers, identified as A, to the prosecution on June 24 on charges including defamation, insult, and special intimidation.

A is accused of using their YouTube channel from March of this year until recently to defame others with baseless claims, as well as repeatedly making sexually humiliating remarks, using profanity, and issuing threats.

Police identified approximately 40 victims, including other YouTubers and viewers, who suffered from A's actions.

Among them, two individuals who operate their own YouTube channels were reportedly threatened with a blunt weapon during a meeting with A.

Even after complaints were filed, A continued to use abusive language against the victims during broadcasts and was eventually arrested after failing to comply with police summons.

To eradicate the practice of using online broadcasts to slander others for the sake of views or advertising revenue, the police plan to file for the forfeiture and collection of A's criminal proceeds.

A police official stated, "We will continue to conduct strict investigations into crimes involving false information that severely damage the reputation of others and can cause social conflict."
