The People Power Party criticized President Lee Jae-myung today (June 28) for his social media post stating, "To a Buddha, only Buddhas are visible, and to a pig, only pigs are visible," calling the remark "insulting."

The ruling party's rebuttal came after the President posted the comment yesterday in response to concerns raised by some regarding the announced prospects of semiconductor investments in the Honam region by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Chief Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon stated in a commentary, "It is common sense for the political sphere and the market to express concerns over the government's sudden announcement of semiconductor investments in the Honam region," adding, "This is because the intention to strategically utilize the semiconductor industry, a long-term national project, to coincide with the ruling party's internal power struggle during its national convention is all too transparent."

"The President is insulting the public by dismissing reasonable suspicions that corporate capital and the nation's future growth engines have been reduced to consumables for the administration's 'vote-gathering' efforts as merely 'speculations seen through the eyes of a pig,'" said Chief Spokesperson Choi.

She further criticized, "If everyone else looks like a pig, it is only because the President's own heart and perspective are filled with the 'eyes of a pig' and a 'devilish nature.'"

Spokesperson Cho Yong-sul also released a commentary, stating, "President Lee should stop fueling unnecessary controversy through social media 'word politics' and step forward for a public debate with the people." He added, "The People Power Party will participate in the debate representing the public's questions and concerns raised during the process of promoting the semiconductor cluster."
