Around 1:00 a.m. today (June 28), the Taean Coast Guard received a report from Sobunjeomdo Island in Wonbuk-myeon, Taean, South Chungcheong Province, stating, "I went fishing and have become stranded."

The Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat and rescued the angler, a person in their 40s identified as A.

It was determined that A had become stranded after failing to keep track of the tide while fishing on the island.

Earlier, around 6:50 p.m. yesterday (June 27), a 7.93-ton fishing boat, B, ran aground on a sandbar in the waters west of Wonsan Anmyeon Bridge in Taean-gun.

The Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and successfully rescued all 18 people on board.

The Coast Guard reported that none of the passengers or crew sustained any injuries.

With the help of the Coast Guard, which installed lift bags to assist the vessel, the boat was able to free itself from the sandbar and return to port.

A Coast Guard official advised, "When navigating coastal waters, you must check the terrain in advance, and when heading to rocky shores, you must always check the tide times."
