A fire broke out on the third floor of an apartment building in Eoyang-dong, Iksan, North Jeolla Province, at approximately 3:10 a.m. today (June 28).

The blaze resulted in the death of a 60-year-old male resident, identified as A, while 15 other residents evacuated the building.

Fire authorities deployed 23 vehicles and 55 personnel, successfully extinguishing the fire within 25 minutes of their arrival.

The fire caused an estimated 3.36 million won in property damage, destroying household items inside the victim's home.

Police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire by interviewing witnesses and others.
