Police have launched an investigation after a firefighter was found dead in Okcheon, North Chungcheong Province.

According to police and fire authorities, the victim, a firefighter in his 30s identified by the surname A who worked at a fire station in Daejeon, was discovered around 2:00 p.m. today (June 26) in Okcheon-eup, Okcheon-gun.

It was reported that A had cut off contact after sending messages to acquaintances that hinted at making an extreme choice.

Following a report from a colleague, police and fire authorities tracked A's mobile phone GPS and searched the Okcheon area, where they eventually discovered him.

The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding A's death.
