A man who murdered his live-in girlfriend with a blunt weapon has been referred to the prosecution.

The Seoul Gangseo Police Station announced today (June 26) that it has referred the suspect, a man in his 20s identified as A, to the prosecution on charges of murder.

A is accused of repeatedly striking his girlfriend, also in her 20s, with a blunt weapon at their home in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on June 20, resulting in her death.

It was confirmed that A called 119 himself immediately after committing the crime.

During police questioning, A reportedly stated, "It is true that I assaulted her, but I had no intention to kill her."

The Seoul Southern District Court held a pre-arrest interrogation for A on June 22 and issued an arrest warrant, citing a risk of flight.
