Police have launched an investigation after a passerby was caught on camera cutting and taking roses from a popular flower spot in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Suwon Paldal Police Station announced today (June 26) that they have identified a man and a woman in their 60s as suspects for theft and have ordered them to appear for questioning next week.
The two are accused of cutting off rose flowers and branches from a wall of a house in Haenggung-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon, around 12:00 a.m. on June 24.
The location is a well-known photo spot, often referred to as the "Blue Gate Rose" on social media due to its picturesque scenery.
Although most of the roses had already wilted at the time of the incident, it was determined that the two individuals cut and took about 10 pieces, including the remaining flowers and branches.
The owner of the roses confirmed the act through CCTV footage on June 24 and reported it to the police.
The owner, who has been tending to the roses for a long time, posted photos of the damage on social media, expressing frustration by stating, "They cut off so many roses this time that it will be difficult to restore them to their previous state."
A police official stated, "We plan to investigate the suspects to determine their motives and the exact extent of the damage."
