Samsung Electronics has maintained its position as the leader in the global DRAM market for the first quarter of this year.
According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung Electronics held the top spot in the global DRAM market with a 38% market share by revenue in the first quarter, followed by SK Hynix in second place with 29%.
Micron, ranked third, held a 22% market share.
While SK Hynix held the top spot and Samsung Electronics ranked second in the first and second quarters of last year, the two companies tied at 33% in the third quarter. Samsung Electronics has since held the number one position for two consecutive quarters, starting from the fourth quarter through this quarter.
China's ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) saw its market share increase significantly from 3% last year to 8% this year.
The overall DRAM market grew by 80% compared to the previous quarter and by 260% compared to the same period last year.
In the global HBM market, based on first-quarter revenue, SK Hynix ranked first with a 58% market share, while Samsung Electronics and Micron both recorded 21%.
In the NAND flash memory market for the first quarter by revenue, Samsung Electronics ranked first with a 29% market share.
This was followed by SK Hynix (18%), Kioxia (14%), and Micron, SanDisk, and Yangtze Memory Technologies (each at 13%).
