A man in his 60s who worked his whole life for his family and eagerly awaited his first grandchild has saved four lives by donating his organs after being declared brain-dead.

The Korea Organ Donation Agency (KODA) announced that Song Ki-seop (67) passed away after donating his organs at the Catholic University of Korea Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital on June 3.

Song collapsed due to sudden dizziness on May 25.

He was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a cerebral infarction, but despite treatment and surgery, he fell into a state of brain death.

With the consent of his family, Song donated his liver, lungs, and both corneas, allowing four people to live new lives.

He also donated human tissues, including bone and skin.

The Korea Organ Donation Agency explained that one person's tissue donation can help the recovery of over 100 patients suffering from functional disabilities.

As the eldest of four siblings, Song supported his family by working as a truck driver for over 20 years after his initial employment.

In recent years, he continued to work while also taking full responsibility for caring for his 90-year-old mother.

Song's daughter and son are expecting to give birth and get married, respectively, this year.

In particular, Song had been looking forward to his first grandchild, saying he would always carry a photo of the baby once it was born this autumn.

His wife, Yoon An-soon, said, "It is most heartbreaking that my husband passed away without being able to meet his grandchild," adding, "I decided on the organ donation because he had expressed during his lifetime that he did not want life-sustaining treatment, and I knew his character was always to put others first."

Yoon said her final farewell to her husband, saying, "I hope you can now put down your heavy burdens and fly freely. Even though you are no longer in this world, someone will be living with a part of you, and I will find comfort in that."
