▲ LG Twins manager Yeom Kyung-yob receives a bouquet of flowers from general manager Cha Myeong-seok after securing his 700th career win with a 2-0 victory against the Samsung Lions in a KBO League game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday (June 24).

The LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) extended their winning streak to five games and solidified their lead in the standings, while manager Yeom Kyung-yob became the oldest manager in league history to reach 700 career wins.

LG defeated the Samsung Lions 2-0 in their 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League home game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday (June 24).

LG's key hitter Austin Dean drove in the game-winning run in the fourth inning with a solo home run over the left fence, his 22nd of the season. With this home run, he became the first player this year to hit a home run against every opposing team in the league.

LG added a second run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Moon Bo-gyeong with runners on first and third and one out, which was set up by Dean's single to right field.

LG starting pitcher Anders Tolhurst pitched six scoreless innings, holding the Samsung lineup to just two hits, to earn his eighth win of the season. He is now tied for the league lead in wins with Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanwha Eagles) and Adam Oller (KIA Tigers).

LG's hard-throwing pitcher Yacksel Rios struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth to secure his first career save in the KBO League.

His first pitch to the final batter, Kim Young-woong, was clocked at 161.7 km/h (100.5 mph) by Trackman, making it the fastest pitch thrown in the league this year.

Manager Yeom, who began his managerial career in 2013 with the Nexen Heroes, achieved his 700 career wins across three teams: the Heroes (305 wins), the SK Wyverns (predecessor of the SSG Landers; 101 wins), and the LG Twins (294 wins).

Reaching the milestone at 58 years, 3 months, and 23 days old, Yeom became the ninth manager in KBO history to reach 700 wins. He surpassed former manager Kim In-sik, who reached the mark with Hanwha in 2005 at 58 years, 1 month, and 13 days old, to become the oldest manager to achieve 700 wins.

Meanwhile, Samsung's Choi Hyoung-woo, aged 42 years, 6 months, and 8 days, drew a walk in the second inning and stole second base, breaking the record set by Choo Shin-soo (42 years and 27 days) to become the oldest player to steal a base in KBO history.

In Busan, the Lotte Giants pulled off a thrilling 5-3 comeback victory over the NC Dinos, securing their first seven-game winning streak in three years, since they won nine straight from April 20 to May 2, 2023.

With the game tied 2-2, NC took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI single to right field by Kim Ju-won, but Lotte turned the game around in the bottom half of the inning.

After a single by pinch-hitter No Jin-hyuk, a sacrifice bunt, an intentional walk to Victor Reyes, and Han Dong-hee being hit by a pitch loaded the bases with two outs, Na Seung-yeop hit a two-run single to right field to bring two runners home.

When NC right fielder Cheon Jae-hwan's throw to home plate went wild, Han Dong-hee also scored, quickly widening the gap to 5-3.

Kim Won-jung took the mound in the ninth inning and pitched a clean frame with two strikeouts to seal the win.

Na Seung-yeop led the team's winning streak, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including an RBI single to right field in the fourth inning.

The SSG Landers edged out kt wiz 5-4 in an away game in Suwon, backed by a surprise strong performance from starting pitcher Kim Min-jun, who allowed only one run over five innings.

Trailing 1-0, SSG turned the game around to lead 2-1 in the fourth inning with back-to-back sacrifice flies with runners on second and third and no outs.

They added three more runs in the fifth inning on Guillermo Heredia's two-run double to left field and Jeon Ui-san's single to right-center, extending their lead to 5-1.

KT fought back in the bottom of the eighth, scoring three runs on hits by Kim Min-hyeok and pinch-hitter Oh Yoon-suk after loading the bases with one out on three walks/hit-by-pitches. However, they failed to capitalize on a subsequent two-out, runners-on-first-and-second opportunity and suffered a defeat.

Kim Min-jun, who joined the league this year, earned his first career win in his third appearance.

At Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, the KIA Tigers broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning by racking up six runs on six hits to crush the Kiwoom Heroes 10-3.

KIA remains undefeated against Kiwoom this year, winning all eight matchups.

Including one win from last year, KIA has won nine consecutive games against Kiwoom and seven straight at Gocheok Sky Dome.

The Heroes, meanwhile, are stuck in a deep slump with an eight-game losing streak.

KIA jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to Kim Do-young's two-run double to right-center and Harold Castro's RBI single to center.

Kiwoom responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI triple to left-center by Kim Woong-bin, and tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning with a sacrifice fly by Lim Byeong-wuk and Kim Geon-hee's RBI double down the left-field line.

KIA broke the game open in the sixth with runners on first and third and no outs. Starting with Han Jun-su's go-ahead RBI double, they scored six runs on Park Min's two-run double down the left-field line, singles to right field by Park Jae-hyun and Kim Ho-ryeong, and a double by Kim Do-young, pulling away to a 9-3 lead.

Kiwoom starter An Woo-jin suffered the loss after allowing six runs in 5 1/3 innings, while KIA's Yang Hyeon-jong earned his fifth win of the season and 191st career win, despite giving up three runs over five innings, thanks to strong run support.

The Doosan Bears snapped their four-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Hanwha Eagles in an away game in Daejeon.

Doosan took control early in the second inning with Kim Min-seok's solo home run over the right fence and An Jae-seok's RBI double, before extending their lead to 4-0 in the third on Park Jun-soon's two-run home run over the left fence.

Adding three more runs in the sixth and seventh innings, Doosan effectively sealed the victory over Hanwha.

Doosan's lineup exploded for 19 hits, led by Jung Soo-bin, who went 4-for-5 with an RBI, and An Jae-seok, who recorded three hits and two RBIs.
