While Cristiano Ronaldo set a major record, another world-class striker, Harry Kane, failed to live up to his reputation in a crucial match. With Kane kept silent, England, ranked 4th in the FIFA rankings, was held to a scoreless draw by 73rd-ranked Ghana.

Facing Ghana, the lowest-ranked opponent they have ever met in a World Cup, England dominated the match with 19 shots to 2, but came away with nothing to show for it.

Kane, who scored two goals in the match against Croatia, struggled to find opportunities against a dense defense.

After a low, fast left-footed shot was blocked by the goalkeeper in the 69th minute, Kane missed a golden opportunity in the 86th minute.

O'Riley's header hit the goalpost and fell right in front of Kane, but his desperate left-footed shot sailed far over the crossbar, resulting in what could be called a "home run shot."

It was a moment that left not only Kane but all the England players clutching their heads in disbelief.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and while England maintained its lead in the group, it failed to secure a spot in the Round of 32.

In contrast to the gloomy England players, the Ghanaian players celebrated as if they had won.

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz, 73, who broke the record for the "oldest winning manager in history" in the previous match against Panama, expressed his frustration with the officiating after the game.

He sarcastically commented on two situations: one in the 67th minute when the referee called a foul on Ghana after the England goalkeeper came out of the penalty area and collided with a Ghanaian player, and another in the 79th minute when a Ghanaian attacker was tripped by an English defender's tackle, yet VAR was not even consulted.

[Carlos Queiroz/Ghana National Football Team Head Coach: The VAR referee must have gone to get a coffee. I also like to have a coffee sometimes. But that was a clear penalty kick and a red card situation.]

England will play its final group match against Panama, and Ghana will face Croatia this coming Sunday.
