The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will launch a "regular notification" service in the first half of this year, which periodically informs subscribers of the "Welfare Membership" program about potential welfare services they may be eligible to receive.
The government introduced the Welfare Membership program in September 2021 to provide information on welfare services based on subscribers' eligibility, income, assets, and household information.
Previously, notifications were provided on an ad-hoc basis, reflecting changes in age and residential area, while income and asset information were only reflected as of the time of initial enrollment.
As a result, there were cases where individuals became eligible for new welfare services due to changes in income after enrollment but did not receive notifications about these services.
In response, the Ministry of Health and Welfare decided to implement regular notifications starting this year, which will inform potential beneficiaries of available services based on their latest income information twice a year.
However, these notifications only inform individuals of services they may be eligible for; actual eligibility for each welfare service remains subject to the results of an investigation conducted upon application.
