The joint investigation team, established to uncover the truth behind the "ballot paper shortage," has launched raids on officials from the National Election Commission (NEC).

The joint investigation team announced today (June 24) that it has begun searching the offices of 3 officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission and 9 officials from the Songpa-gu Election Commission to reconstruct the situation regarding the ballot shortage that occurred on the day of the local elections.

The team also explained that it is currently analyzing materials submitted yesterday by the Central Election Commission, which include the activities and review documents of the committee investigating the ballot shortage incident.

The joint investigation team is focusing its probe on allegations that the Election Commission failed to respond properly, such as by hastily deciding to reduce the number of ballots printed. Meanwhile, the team is also looking into suspicions of mismanagement, including allegations of "junkets" disguised as official business trips.
