NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to leave the Milwaukee Bucks and join the Miami Heat.
The Associated Press reported today (June 23), citing sources, that "Miami has reached an agreement to acquire Antetokounmpo following marathon negotiations with Milwaukee."
The AP added that the deal is still pending approval from the NBA league office.
Standing at 211cm (6'11") with an imposing physique, the Greek-born Antetokounmpo is a major star who has been named NBA Most Valuable Player twice and an NBA All-Star 10 times.
Antetokounmpo, who led Milwaukee to the NBA championship in 2021, was also selected as one of the greatest players in history for the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
Antetokounmpo, who averaged 27.6 points during the 2025-2026 season, ended his season early due to injury and subsequently clashed with Milwaukee after requesting a trade.
If the deal is finalized, Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from Milwaukee will head to Miami, while four Miami players, including Tyler Herro, will move to Milwaukee.
Additionally, Milwaukee will receive at least four draft picks, including the 13th overall pick in the NBA Draft taking place tomorrow (June 24).
