High-level talks between the U.S. and Iran held in Switzerland on the 21st (local time) concluded their first day after an 18-hour marathon session.

Mediators Qatar and Pakistan issued a joint statement announcing that the U.S. and Iran have set a goal to reach a final agreement within 60 days, based on the MOU on ending hostilities signed on the 17th. They also agreed to launch a high-level committee to oversee the process.

The U.S. and Iran have agreed to establish a direct communication channel to ensure the safe passage of merchant vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Furthermore, they agreed to establish a dispute resolution body involving the U.S., Iran, Lebanon, and the mediating nations to monitor the implementation of the cessation of military operations in Lebanon.

Iran is moving quickly to publicize the results of these high-level talks.

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated that they had reached an agreement with the U.S. on a mechanism to manage safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a highly significant matter.

He also reported that they discussed the issuance of permits required for Iran's oil exports and the unfreezing of assets, noting that substantial progress had been made.

However, he maintained pressure by reiterating that "the war must end on all fronts, including Lebanon."

Working-level teams from both countries will remain in Switzerland to continue intense technical negotiations with the mediators throughout this week regarding the lifting of sanctions and nuclear issues.

There has been no official response from the U.S. delegation regarding the outcome of the talks yet.
