Former Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae, who is on trial for alleged complicity in an insurrection, will receive his first-instance verdict today (June 22).

Park is also accused of issuing inappropriate instructions to a subordinate after receiving a request from First Lady Kim Keon-hee to determine the circumstances behind the formation of a dedicated investigation team for the luxury handbag scandal at the Prosecutors' Office.

The special prosecutor has requested a 20-year prison sentence for the former minister.
