From Supporting Korean Education to Honoring the June Tenth Movement: Kim Nam-gil's Inspiring Philanthropy

Actor Kim Nam-gil continues to engage in a wide range of public-interest initiatives.

On June 10, Kim Nam-gil, alongside Professor Seo Kyoung-duk, produced and released a multilingual video titled "Voices United as One: The 100th Anniversary of the June 10 Independence Movement" to commemorate the historic milestone.

Co-produced with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the video highlights how the June Tenth Movement transcended being a mere anti-Japanese protest to prove the values of "unity and solidarity." It also explores how the movement served as a major turning point in the independence struggle, paving the way for events like the Gwangju Student Independence Movement. Kim Nam-gil, who provided the Korean narration for the video, shared his thoughts: "I am delighted to convey the history of the June Tenth Movement through my voice, and I hope many people both in Korea and abroad will watch it."

Kim's actions are particularly meaningful as they are not one-off gestures, but rather part of his continuous efforts to promote Korean culture and history to the world.

Previously, Kim teamed up with Professor Seo Kyoung-duk on Hangul Day last year to participate in a project supporting Korean language education abroad, launching a campaign to globalize Hangul. His pledge at the time to seek out and support organizations dedicated to Korean language education worldwide has translated into real action. In April, he provided practical assistance to overseas Korean language education by donating educational equipment, including laptops and tablet PCs, along with Korean language learning materials, to the New Zealand Milal Special School.

Beyond acting, Kim has consistently used his public platform to support cultural and educational initiatives. Many are sending their support as he fulfills his social responsibility, expanding his reach beyond monetary donations to meaningful contributions such as donating his voice talent and planning public interest cultural content.
