Cho Jung-seok to Craft World-Shaking Counterfeit Bills, Confirmed for Netflix's 'Paperman' Alongside Park Hae-soo & Claudia Kim

Netflix has confirmed the production of its new original series 'Paperman', a crime drama that sharply delves into money, desire, and human duality, and has unveiled its star-studded casting lineup.

On June 9, Netflix announced the production of the new series 'Paperman' and revealed the casting of actors Cho Jung-seok, Park Hae-soo, and Claudia Kim.

'Paperman' is a crime drama about Cha Myeong-jo, a protagonist who has spent his life making counterfeits without ever being recognized by anyone. After accidentally creating a perfect counterfeit bill that no one can distinguish from the real thing, he finds himself stepping into an uncontrollably dangerous world of crime.

The story begins with the daily life of Cha Myeong-jo, who works at a company making counterfeit character stickers and lives as a "breadwinner in name only," overshadowed by his successful, elite judge wife. The series will explore the true value of money, unstoppable human desire, and the boundaries between "real" and "fake" strictly defined by society through a witty yet sharp lens, promising to deliver both fresh genre entertainment and breathtaking suspense to viewers.

Director Lee Il-hyung, who has proven his exceptional ability to deliver genre thrills with bold, distinctive character development and tight pacing through the Netflix series 'Karma' and films like 'A Violent Prosecutor' and 'Remember', will helm the series.

The solid casting of "trustworthy" actors further boosts anticipation. First, actor Cho Jung-seok takes the lead as the protagonist, Cha Myeong-jo, who has lived his entire life without receiving recognition from the world or those around him. Cho Jung-seok is expected to deliver a dense portrayal of the character's multi-dimensional transformation—from the realistic, sorrowful figure of a breadwinner battered by the world to a man running wild as he awakens to dangerous desires.

Actor Park Hae-soo will play Oh Seung-eop, the chief anti-counterfeiting researcher at the National Mint's counterfeit investigation department, who stands in Cho Jung-seok's way and creates a tense confrontation. Transforming into Seung-eop, a character with cold judgment and an obsessive tracking instinct, Park will gradually tighten the noose around Myeong-jo, driving the show's suspense to its peak.

Actor Claudia Kim has been cast as Go Hye-seok, Cha Myeong-jo's successful wife and an elite judge. Claudia Kim is set to enhance the show's immersive experience by dynamically portraying a complex character who appears perfect on the outside but harbors realistic worries and family fractures beneath the surface.
