Actress Chae Won-been praised Ahn Hyo Seop, her romantic co-star in 'Sold Out on You,' calling him the best partner.
During an interview held on the afternoon of June 2 at the Outer Universe office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Chae Won-been shared her candid thoughts on wrapping up the SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Sold Out on You' and her chemistry with co-star Ahn Hyo Seop.
Taking on the romantic comedy genre for the first time in her career, Chae Won-been candidly confessed, "I didn't know what to do, so I froze up a lot in front of the camera and felt very shy." What gave her immense strength was a single remark from her senior co-star Ahn Hyo Seop, who has successfully led multiple rom-com projects.
In particular, Ahn Hyo Seop's heartfelt empathy gave great courage to Chae Won-been, who was emotionally frozen. Chae Won-been shared, "He noticed my nervousness so well. While technical advice like 'If you do it this way, it looks better on camera' is also great, his words of empathy—'You're nervous, right? Me too'—gave me much more strength." She added, "Emotions aren't something you can just switch off because someone tells you, 'Don't be nervous.' Knowing that he felt the same way made me rely on him even more."
Chae Won-been expressed great satisfaction in having Ahn Hyo Seop as her partner for her first rom-com. "Contrary to my first impression of him, Hyo Seop is surprisingly very playful and naturally witty. He came up with many fun ideas for every scene, so filming the comedic parts was incredibly enjoyable," she said, recalling the lively atmosphere on set.
She continued, "Since he has experience in rom-coms, I received a lot of help in that regard. I'm so grateful. Meeting someone like Hyo Seop as my first rom-com partner was truly a huge blessing," expressing her gratitude.

'Sold Out on You' is a romantic comedy drama about "real-life hustlers" that follows the day-and-night entanglements between Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo Seop), a perfectionist farmer, and Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-been), a "sold-out" show host. Chae Won-been passionately portrayed the popular show host Dam Ye-jin, a character who appears confident and cheerful on the outside but harbors hidden worries and growing pains within.
Having handled the largest amount of screen time in her career through this project, Chae Won-been defined 'Sold Out on You' as "a project where I gained so much that it's dizzying to think what would have happened if I hadn't done it."
She expressed her deep affection for the drama, saying, "Although I got exhausted fighting fiercely with myself every day on set, I learned how to become closer to my emotions in the process. It is a grateful project that helped me grow and become more resilient in my mindset as an actress, not just in technical aspects."
Featuring the fantastic banter between Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won-been alongside her brilliant growth, the drama 'Sold Out on You' concluded on May 28 amidst great love from viewers.
