Park Shinhye Confirmed for 'The Judge from Hell' Season 2 Following Second Pregnancy Announcement

Actress Park Shinhye is set to return next year with Season 2 of 'The Judge from Hell'.

On the morning of June 1, Hong Seong-chang, CEO of Studio S, attended the SBS Drama Media Day 'SBS DRAMA: NEXT EPISODE' held at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul. During the event, he made the first official announcement, stating, "Actress Park Shinhye, who is currently pregnant, will return next year with Season 2 of 'The Judge from Hell'."

At the event, teaser videos were unveiled to introduce new dramas scheduled to air on SBS in the second half of this year and the first half of next year. For the second half of this year, 'Agent Kim Reactivated', 'Flex X Cop 2', 'Doctor X', 'Good Partner 2', and 'Nine to Six' will meet viewers. In the first half of next year, 'EXCITATIO', 'The Long Shot Trial', 'Nightmare', and 'Full Count' are set to air on SBS.

While this SBS drama lineup had already been previously disclosed, CEO Hong Seong-chang surprised the audience by revealing two additional upcoming dramas for next year's lineup that had not yet been made public: Season 2 of 'The Judge from Hell' starring Park Shinhye, and 'Dash' starring actress Shin Haesun.

Previously, 'The Judge from Hell' became a mega-hit, surpassing a peak viewership rating of 13.6% and sweeping the number one spot across all channels in its time slot, as well as dominating the top ranks of global OTT charts. The success was driven by Park Shinhye's dramatic acting transformation as Kang Bit-na, a demon who enters the body of a judge. The series delivered an overwhelming sense of catharsis to viewers with its intense narrative of private punishment, where evil is penalized in a demonic way, perfectly proving the signature 'refreshing, satisfying success DNA' of SBS's Friday-Saturday dramas.

Park Shinhye is currently pregnant with her second child. She has officially confirmed Season 2 of 'The Judge from Hell' as her comeback project, which she will begin filming after giving birth and taking time to recover.
