Jung Dong-won's Agency Warns of Zero Leniency for Impostors & Rumor Spreaders During His Marine Corps Service

The agency of singer Jung Dong-won, who is currently serving in the military, has announced a strong legal response against those spreading false information under the guise of being fans and inciting conflict within the fandom.

His agency, Showplay Entertainment, recently released an official statement, saying, "We are continuously monitoring online communities, social media, portal sites, and various platforms related to Jung Dong-won." They added, "We are pursuing legal action against the spread of false information, defamation, malicious slander, and the dissemination of groundless rumors."

The agency continued, "We have previously taken measures such as issuing warnings and requesting the deletion of posts regarding malicious slander and the spread of false information targeting our artist. In some cases, actual legal punishments have been handed down."

In particular, they pointed out that they have recently identified instances where individuals pose as fans to spread false information or distort and exaggerate specific situations to manipulate public opinion negatively.

"Beyond simply writing malicious posts, we have continuously identified actions such as spreading completely groundless rumors under the guise of being a fan, distorting and exaggerating specific situations to foster negative public opinion, inciting conflict within the fandom, and even causing harm to our business partners," the agency emphasized. "While these actions outwardly appear to be normal fan activities, we are fully aware of these movements aimed at damaging the artist's image and creating confusion within the fandom."

They also stated, "We are collecting evidence and conducting legal reviews and actions regarding cases where individuals act in a way that impersonates or could be mistaken for the artist's representative or associate without our prior consent or authorization." They added, "We plan to take strong legal action against such instigating behaviors without any leniency or settlement."

Meanwhile, Jung Dong-won voluntarily enlisted in the Marine Corps this past February to keep his promise to himself and his fans, and is currently faithfully fulfilling his military service.
