Controversy has erupted regarding the recruitment of 'unpaid volunteers' for singer WOODZ's upcoming concert in Germany. Criticism has been raised over the demand for high-level qualifications, such as proficiency in three languages, while offering no proper compensation.
Recently, a job posting for staff for WOODZ's world tour concert in Germany, scheduled for this June, was uploaded to a local community for Koreans and international students in Germany.
The posting stated, "Those who work as volunteers on the day of the show will be randomly assigned tasks such as maintaining audience order, working at the medical booth, show running, or meal support."
Requirements for applicants included proficiency in Korean, German, and English, with preference given to those with experience in K-Pop concerts and knowledge of lighting and sound. However, the compensation section noted, "Unpaid, meals provided, opportunity to watch the performance," which drew significant attention.
One who saw the post pointed out, "Is it right not to provide fair compensation to event staff at a commercial concert?" Another person raised the issue, asking, "Is it even possible for staff who are managing and running the concert to actually watch the performance while working?"
The ticket prices for WOODZ's Frankfurt concert, which were attached to the posting, were 245 euros (approx. 420,000 KRW) for VIP seats, 190 euros (approx. 330,000 KRW) for Priority seats, and 130 euros (approx. 220,000 KRW) for general admission.
Regarding this, WOODZ's agency stated that they are "currently looking into the matter."
WOODZ is scheduled to hold his world tour 'Archive.1' in cities including Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany, this June.
