Kim Kyung-nam Faces the Ugly Truth About His Father in 'Phantom Lawyer': A High-Stakes 'Father-Son War' Ahead of the Finale

With only two episodes left until the finale, the tension in 'Phantom Lawyer' has reached a boiling point as the father-son relationship between Choi Gwang-il and Kim Kyung-nam heads toward a catastrophic collapse.

In the latest episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Phantom Lawyer' (written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu, directed by Shin Joong-hoon), the chilling true colors of Taebaek Group Chairman Yang Byeong-il (played by Choi Gwang-il) were revealed, shocking viewers. He discovered that Shin-i-rang (played by Yoo Yeon-seok), the son of the late Shin Ki-joong who died 20 years ago, could see ghosts. Fearing that Shin-i-rang would uncover the truth of the past, Yang halted his treatment and returned to the country. Furthermore, he revealed his cruel nature by imprisoning and assaulting the shaman who was at the center of the incident.

Even more shocking is the fact that his son, Yang Do-kyung (played by Kim Kyung-nam), discovered all of this by hacking his father's computer and eavesdropping on his conversations. All eyes are now on the choice Yang Do-kyung will make after facing the ugly truth about the father he once deeply respected.

In the released preview, Yang Do-kyung finally confronts his father, asking, "Why are you so concerned about Shin Ki-joong, who died 20 years ago?"—a question about the buried truth that signals an impending storm.

Adding to the complexity is Yang Do-kyung's conflicted feelings for Han Na-hyun (played by Esom). After the 'Phantom Lawyer' office is attacked and Han Na-hyun is put in danger, he warns her, "Stop what you're doing right now," leaving him at a precarious crossroads between his father's downfall, his rival Shin-i-rang, and his romantic feelings for Han Na-hyun.

The overwhelming performance of Choi Gwang-il, who hides madness behind a gentle smile, and the passionate acting of Kim Kyung-nam, who delicately portrays the complex inner conflict between respect and betrayal, are heightening the drama's immersion. The production team stated, "Please watch to see if the truth Yang Do-kyung has uncovered will be the 'masterstroke' that brings about Yang Byeong-il's downfall, or the beginning of another tragedy."

Episode 15 of 'Phantom Lawyer', with only two episodes remaining, will air on May 1 (Friday) at 9:50 PM.
