Actress Lim Ji-yeon is returning to the small screen as a refreshing villain in the new drama
My Royal Nemesis.
Premiering on May 8, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama
My Royal Nemesis (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) depicts a war-like romantic comedy between Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress who becomes "vicious" after being possessed by the soul of a legendary Joseon-era villain, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a man known as a "monster born of capitalism." The drama is highly anticipated as it brings together director Han Tae-seop of
Hot Stove League and
Cheer Up with rookie writer Kang Hyun-joo, featuring the first romantic pairing of Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun.
The stills released by
My Royal Nemesis on the 27th capture the scene of Shin Seo-ri’s satisfying "villain takedown." The scene where she swings a laundry bat at an attacker without hesitation clearly demonstrates the personality of the "uncompromising" Joseon villain character she will be portraying.
The "Joseon villain" played by Lim Ji-yeon is a character ahead of her time, expected to cause delightful waves in modern society with her unique grit, incredible adaptability, and unfiltered way of speaking.
Previously, director Han Tae-seop commented on Lim Ji-yeon’s character, stating, "Please pay attention to the moments and vocabulary where Shin Seo-ri, an 18th-century Confucian woman, delivers stinging remarks to modern people. She will create moments that provide both catharsis and emotion."
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama
My Royal Nemesis, which promises a new "Joseon girl crush" character, is set to premiere on Friday, May 8 at 9:50 PM, following the currently airing
Phantom Lawyer.
