The two leads of Yumi’s Cells Season 3, actors Kim Go-eun and Kim Jae-won, show off their adorable chemistry in a new editorial spread.
On the 20th, fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar unveiled a couple editorial with Kim Go-eun and Kim Jae-won. The pair channel an easy, spring-fresh vibe and lock in flawless synergy throughout the shoot.

In the interview that followed, the two spoke about their deep trust in the project―and in each other. Yumi’s Cells Season 3 follows Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun), who has achieved her dream of becoming a romance writer but finds herself stuck in a dull routine. When she meets PD Shin Soon-rok (played by Kim Jae-won), her long-asleep cells begin to wake up.

New to Season 3 as Shin Soon-rok, Kim Jae-won shared, “At our very first meeting, Go-eun noona told me I could speak comfortably, so we got close quickly. On set, it felt like if I offered 10 ideas, the space welcomed all 10. I’m grateful―thanks to her. She never jumped to conclusions and always asked for my opinion. I learned so much from her about how to approach acting.”

Kim Go-eun responded, “It was my first time partnering up with someone much more junior. I wondered, ‘If I joke around like this, will he take it too seriously? If I put it this way, will it sound like a joke?’ With seniors, I’m more like the playful youngest. I even debated whether I should approach him as a comfortable friend instead. Since the director and I have worked together for a long time, both of us wanted Jae-won to feel less out of place and quickly at home on set.”

Having grown alongside “Yumi” since Season 1, Kim Go-eun showed special affection for the series. “Yumi is the project that marks the start of my 30s,” she said. “In Season 3, we capture Yumi’s daily life and thoughts in her mid-to-late 30s. Aging with Yumi as I act has made it more fun and a truly special experience. I feel ready to wrap this grand journey well.”

Cast as “Yumi’s last man” Shin Soon-rok, Kim Jae-won added, “From my perspective, it felt like a precious daughter from a huge, loving family bringing her boyfriend home to meet everyone―and every single person was watching. I was that boyfriend. It was an honor to join the final chapter of a series that’s so deeply loved. Soon-rok is remembered as a unicorn-like younger-guy image, so there was pressure―but the good kind.”
