"My Royal Nemesis" is turning up the hype with new stills of Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun’s explosive first encounter.
Premiering May 8, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) is a high-tension rom-com about a nameless actress, Shin Seori (played by Lim Ji-yeon), who becomes possessed by the soul of Joseon’s most notorious villainess, Kang Dan-sim (also played by Lim Ji-yeon), and an “evil chaebol” dubbed the monster of capitalism, Cha Segye (played by Heo Nam-jun). Director Han Tae-seop of "Hot Stove League" and "Cheer Up" teams up with rising writer Kang Hyun-joo.
The stills released on the 17th tease a fierce first meeting between Shin Seori and Cha Segye. In the middle of the road, the two face off, pointing bouquets at each other in a hilariously tense standoff. With the infamous villainess’s spirit inside her, Shin Seori fixes him with a predator’s gaze, ready to duel―while Cha Segye awkwardly defends himself with a wilted bouquet and a comically wary expression.
Their dynamic is summed up by the lines “A good-for-nothing punk” and “Isn’t she completely crazy?”―and it doesn’t end there. Another still captures Cha Segye suddenly pulling Shin Seori into a tight hug. Her startled, flustered look―and the way she still doesn’t drop that razor-sharp glare―sets the stage for their unpredictable, deliciously “toxic synergy.”
From a bouquet brawl to a surprise embrace, all eyes are on how “Joseon villainess” Lim Ji-yeon and “evil chaebol” Heo Nam-jun’s explosive chemistry will unfold. SBS’s new FridaySaturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" premieres Friday, May 8, at 9:50 p.m.
