A glimpse of "Phantom Lawyer" shows Yoo Yeon-seok burning a talisman, sparking questions over whether Esom will be forced into a heartbreaking goodbye with her sister, played by Hwang Bo-reum-byeol.
In Episode 8 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Phantom Lawyer" (written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu; directed by Shin Joong-hoon), Han Na-hyun (Esom) miraculously reunited with her sister Han So-hyun (Hwang Bo-reum-byeol), who returned by possessing Shin I-rang’s (Yoo Yeon-seok) body. In Episode 9, airing on the 10th, the sisters share tender, happy moments―while a painful family secret comes to light.
The pre-release teaser shows Han So-hyun completing the bucket list she couldn’t finish after passing away, by inhabiting Shin I-rang’s body. From a hanbok palace tour to camping under the stars, Han Na-hyun finally checks off that humble list with the sister she’s missed so deeply, reveling in rare, brilliant happiness. Her once-cold face is now full of smiles―but for viewers who know this can’t last forever, the joy cuts even deeper.
Han So-hyun seems ready to accept her fate. She tells Shin I-rang, “I know I shouldn’t be here. I don’t want to hurt Na-hyun anymore,” prompting his decisive resolve. Then comes Han Na-hyun’s desperate cry―“No, don’t go”―doubling the sorrow. Whether she can accept this forced farewell and let her sister go remains to be seen, as a potentially most heart-wrenching chapter unfolds.
The production team noted, “Han So-hyun’s reason for coming to Shin I-rang as a spirit is different from previous spirits who suffered wrongful deaths. That’s why the ritual of sending a spirit off―Shin I-rang burning a talisman on the Okcheon Building rooftop―will feel even more painful. After the sisters’ happy time, please stay with us through the brutally cruel turn of fate.”
Episode 9 of "Phantom Lawyer" airs Friday the 10th at 9:50 p.m.
