With just one week to go, the team behind Netflix variety series “Ready or Not: Texas” has dropped must-see highlights and new stills.
Premiering Tuesday, March 24, “Ready or Not: Texas” is an unscripted, plan-free travel variety following Lee Seo-jin and PD Na Young-seok as they roam the United States. After the Kenya-set travel hit “Three Idiots in Kenya,” this marks the Na Young-seok crew’s second variety title on Netflix―fueling major anticipation.
# Na Young-Seok Crew Reunites with Netflix: A Freestyle “Do-What-You-Want” Guide Is Born
The twist this time: Lee Seo-jin―beloved for his dry wit and blunt honesty―steps in as a Texas guide. He treats Texas like a second hometown, and the chaotic road trip he leads with Na Young-seok’s crew promises easy laughs and feel-good vibes.
Reuniting with Lee for the first time in a while, PD Na Young-seok said, “In reality shows, how much viewers like the cast accounts for more than half the program,” adding that Lee Seo-jin “doesn’t worry about what others think and acts boldly, yet quietly looks after everyone around him.”
PD Kim Ye-seul agreed: “Viewers are drawn to how Lee Seo-jin seems cool on the outside but warm on the inside,” noting, “He may grumble the whole trip, but he ends up taking care of everything―he’s the kind of guide you wish you had in your own circle.”
# A Wild-Card, Lee Seo-jin-Style Texas Road Trip
The show’s signature draw is its “freestyle wandering” format―you won’t find this anywhere but “Ready or Not: Texas.” The Texas backdrop especially stands out. Western-movie scenery unfolds in real life, and the crew moves through it like they’ve time-traveled.
Armed with fun American trivia and overflowing Texas pride, Lee leads an unpredictable itinerary. After a 13-hour flight, they land in the U.S. and dig into gamjatang and dim sum before hitting a roller rink. They skip hands-on NASA activities in favor of the merch shop, then detour to a football stadium―following every last bit of Lee’s fan energy. No plans. No agenda. No reason―just go where Guide Lee goes. It’s a kind of trip you haven’t seen before.
PD Na Young-seok calls it “a nothing-fancy, middle-aged guys’ trip done exactly the way they want,” adding, “Texas isn’t a place travel shows visit often, so we hope you’ll watch as if you’re coming along.” PD Kim Ye-seul said, “It’s a Texas trip done the way we feel like it, not by the book. You get to remotely share in Lee Seo-jin’s tastes―and watch longtime camaraderie shine in a truly fun variety.”
# “Grumbly U.S. Guide” Lee Seo-jin & “Mischief-Loving Dreamer” Na Young-Seok Crew: Bestie-Level Chemistry
Lee Seo-jin and Na Young-seok’s 15-year friendship is a hook all its own. Born from Lee’s endless love for Texas―and his wish to show it off to close friends―“Ready or Not: Texas” thrives on real-friend chemistry. While “Mr. Lee” the guide grumbles, the rest of the crew brings the hype, setting a playful tone. With years of history, they know exactly how to roast and wrestle each other―with bickering that turns into peak chemistry.
PD Kim Ye-seul said, “During post, we joked it felt like a rom-com with a bubbly female lead and a cynical male lead. Lee Seo-jin talks tough but looks after everyone more than anyone else, while Senior Na Young-seok’s shamelessness―never fazed by a scolding―adds another layer of fun.”
