BoA Leaves SM After 25 Years, Launches New Label: "Focusing on My True Colors"

Singer BoA, who parted ways with SM Entertainment after 25 years, will continue her activities through BApal Entertainment.

On March 3, BApal Entertainment released an official statement outlining BoA’s next chapter, saying, “To more clearly realize her musical direction, BoA has chosen a new structure.”

Rather than a cosmetic change, the move is a reset to focus on the artist’s true colors and inner world. BoA’s side explained, “The precious memories and invaluable experiences built over a long time are the most important assets that shaped BoA into the strong artist she is today. Based on those lessons, she aims to further strengthen the substance of her music.”

BApal Entertainment is an agency founded by BoA herself. The name combines “BoA” and “pal,” meaning friend―signaling “BoA and friends,” a company built together with BoA and her fans. It reflects a plan to create a structure where artists and fans can connect more closely.

A representative said, “We respect BoA’s profound musical world and clear vision, and we plan to build an optimized environment so the artist can pursue her direction flexibly and naturally.”
