"Phantom Lawyer"’s second teaser teases a “horror romance,” spotlighting elite attorney Esom who finds herself strangely drawn to a “ghost-obsessed” Yoo Yeon-seok―and not above landing a slap when he pushes it too far.
Premiering Friday, March 13, SBS’s new Fri-Sat drama "Phantom Lawyer" (written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu, directed by Shin Joong-hoon) follows “possessed” lawyer Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok), who helps restless spirits resolve their deep grudges, and “cold-blooded” elite lawyer Han Na-hyun (Esom), who stakes everything on winning. It’s a strange yet warm adventure of laying the dead’s grudges to rest.
Known for its punchy pacing and fresh fantasy twist that aims to carry on SBS’s signature zingy legal dramas, "Phantom Lawyer"’s Teaser 2―released on the 27th―adds a new layer: a full-on horror romance vibe. A connection that starts with a slap begins to spark into something sweeter. As their feelings tangle through the prism of ghosts, the romantic temperature climbs. Another “possessed” selling point is officially on the table.
The clip opens with Shin I-rang and Han Na-hyun facing off in a private setting, not a courtroom. Mustering his courage, Shin blurts out the last thing she expects: “It’s a ghost.” When Na-hyun, rattled, asks, “What?”, he keeps scanning for spirits anyway. She fires back with a blunt “You’re crazy,” but he doubles down―“A new ghost just showed up”―and tries to explain, until Na-hyun finally slaps him. His relentless fixation on ghosts and his personality shifting like he’s someone else would shake even the coldest pro. No wonder she draws a hard line: “Don’t ever talk to me again.”
But something’s off―she pushed him away, yet they keep running into each other. When Shin steps closer with, “Are you mad?”, Na-hyun bursts, “How can you be so bad at reading people?” He can see ghosts, but not human hearts. She doesn’t believe in ghosts, yet her emotions start to wobble around Shin. A strange current begins to flow between these two polar-opposite lawyers.
Then the mood shifts. They run hand-in-hand through falling snow. They walk side by side in hanbok down a bubble-filled street. In front of a carousel, they hold each other tight―shots straight out of a romance. “You trust me, right?” Shin asks. Na-hyun answers, “You and I are different people,” but admits, “That’s why I like being with you.” Her honesty changes the temperature completely.
As a nervous Shin stands before Na-hyun and says, “I’m going to say it―how I feel,” the teaser peaks with a near-confession. They’ll soon face off as opposing counsel over a case, but their bond―born through the eerie medium of ghosts―raises the question: where will these feelings lead- And how will a slap-etched first meeting rewrite itself into something fluttery-
The production team shared, “This second teaser’s story unfolds around the pair’s shifting relationship―playful and romantic. The inexplicable situations create absurd, comedic beats, but ultimately it’s about human emotions, and that’s where the two lawyers’ relationship evolves. Watch how two people, tied together by ghosts, end up shaking each other’s worlds.”
"Phantom Lawyer" premieres Friday, March 13 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
