‘Culinary Class Wars 2’ standout Chef Kim Hee-eun is joining ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny’ with her husband, Chef Yoon Dae-hyun, as the show’s newest couple.

At the end of the Feb. 24 episode of SBS’ ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,’ a teaser confirmed the pair’s arrival. The couple co-runs a Korean restaurant that has held a Michelin one-star rating for three consecutive years. In the preview, Kim contrasted her glossy resume with their reality, saying, “People called us gold spoon, silver spoon, even diamond spoon―but we’re spoonless.” Yoon added, “If you really look inside, there’s nothing there,” drawing a bittersweet laugh.

Despite their Michelin-star status, the two surprised viewers by revealing a humble studio-apartment life. They don’t even have a proper vanity at home. “Our place is a purely functional one-room,” Kim said, teasing a stripped-down, unexpected reality. The couple even reuses items like cotton swabs, embracing an ultra-frugal lifestyle.

Kim also opened up about the difficult road to pursuing her dream of becoming a chef. “I didn’t have money, so I worked really hard at part-time jobs―promoting shampoo and conditioner, selling cosmetics at a department store,” she recalled. She then shared that conflict with her father, who opposed her cooking ambitions, led her to leave home. As she recounted the story, she couldn’t hold back tears.
