Kwak Min-kyung Says Her Family Cried Watching 'EXchange 4': "I Told Them Not to Watch It, but..."

TVING’s "EXchange 4" cast member Kwak Min-kyung said her family cried while watching the show.

On Feb. 24, singer Park Jae-jung’s YouTube channel uploaded a video featuring Kwak Min-kyung, where he declared himself a fan of her. On the episode, Kwak looked back on the latter half of the program and opened up honestly about her feelings.

On "EXchange 4", Kwak hoped to reunite with her ex of nearly eight years. In the end, her ex chose another cast member, and viewers saw her struggle. Addressing the much-talked-about “hotteok” moment, she explained, “I mistook it as a signal from my ex. Even after filming, I thought my ex had bought it for me, but it wasn’t. I also love hotteok, and we used to go to a hotteok place together a lot, so I misunderstood.”

She also shared how she felt while the show was airing. “Honestly, my friends and acquaintances seemed to have a harder time than me. There were parts where I didn’t look great, so they sent a lot of support and worry,” she said. “During the broadcast period, I tried not to meet people and did some traveling. I went to small cities in Japan, booked quiet stays, and rested alone.”

Kwak added that her family went through a tough time too. “From the beginning, I told them, ‘Absolutely don’t watch it.’ I thought my parents would be upset. But Shorts kept popping up, so they watched and called me in tears. My mom sent a long text saying, ‘I hope things get easier now, and I hope you’re rewarded in the future for everything you’ve endured.’ We cried together on the phone,” she said. “My family figured out the ending without me saying it. I think I struggled for about two to three weeks after the broadcast ended.”

Park Jae-jung shared his support, saying, “I hope things go well for you, Min-kyung. When you get married someday, I want to sing at your wedding.” He joked, “You said you want to get married before 30, right? Then I’ll ask you every year when you’re getting married.” He added, “I can’t sing ‘Let's Say Goodbye’ as a wedding song. I’ll write a romantic song just for you and sing that,” creating a warm moment.
