SBS’ "Animal Farm" spotlights the puzzling case of a puppy named “Gildong.”
On the February 22 episode, the show introduces Gildong, a dog who suddenly appeared one day and glued himself to a woman he had never met before.
Gildong won’t take his eyes off the woman and pours on relentless affection. To anyone watching, he looks exactly like her pet. But they’re complete strangers. He boldly follows her into the living room like he owns the place, and even when she firmly kicks him out, he stands at the door crying and protesting. The woman is at her wit’s end.
Their story began in January, on the season’s first snowy day. She heard scratching at the front door, opened it, and there he was. As if it were fate, he leaped into her arms. She started looking after the pitiful pup. But his attachment has crossed the line into full-on obsession―and it’s only getting stronger.
The biggest problem? Gildong is fiercely jealous of “Michu,” the longtime resident pet of the house. Michu is unwell and needs the woman’s care. Blinded by jealousy, Gildong keeps bothering Michu, so she has no choice but to push him away. Still, she can’t just abandon a dog with no known owner in the bitter cold. Her dilemma deepens.
Why would a dog who likely has an owner show up at a stranger’s home and shower her with such intense affection? "Animal Farm" will uncover what’s really going on with Gildong, who appeared out of nowhere and claimed the woman as his person. Tune in Sunday, the 22nd, at 9:30 a.m.
