Chef Ahn Sung-jae is tipping his hat to the 100 chefs at the heart of Netflix’s "Culinary Class Wars", saying the show’s momentum is helping shine a spotlight on Korea’s dining scene.
Speaking at the “Next on Netflix 2026 Korea” showcase on Jan. 21 at the Conrad Seoul, Ahn said the series has introduced viewers to talented chefs they might never have discovered otherwise. “People are trying new dishes, taking an interest in the restaurant world, and actually showing up to dine,” he shared. “For those of us in hospitality, that support means everything.”
The event laid out Netflix’s 2026 slate and vision, with Netflix Korea Content VP Don Kang and unscripted lead Ki-hwan Yoo among the executives in attendance. Cast members also joined for a panel, including Jeon Do-yeon (Possible Love), Nam Joo-hyuk (The East Palace), Son Ye-jin (The Scandal), Park Eun-bin (The Wonder Fools), and Ahn from "Culinary Class Wars".
Now a global hit through Seasons 1 and 2, "Culinary Class Wars" features Ahn as a judge. “If you’re wondering why the show connects, it’s because the 100 competing chefs are magnetic and seriously skilled,” he said. “As a judge and a viewer, that’s what makes it so stylish and fun. We’re grateful for all the love.”
Riding that wave, Season 3 is officially a go, with casting already underway. “I hear a lot of chefs are applying, and I’m excited,” Ahn teased. “Keep the support coming.”
Unscripted director Ki-hwan Yoo added that Season 3 was greenlit as Season 2 wrapped and is set to arrive in Q4 this year. “Back-to-back love for two seasons raises the bar for us,” he said. “We’re coming back with fresh twists and a new flavor that sets it apart.”
