Can This Love Be Translated?Netflix has unveiled globe-trotting production stills for "Can This Love Be Translated?", the unpredictable romantic comedy starring Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung that captures sweeping scenery from Japan to Italy―and everywhere in between.

The series follows a multilingual interpreter, Joo Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho), who’s tasked with translating for world-famous star Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung), setting off a romance where feelings don’t always fit neatly into words. On January 12, Netflix dropped a fresh batch of stills showcasing vibrant locations across Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy.

Director Yoo Young-eun leans into each country’s distinct colors and spaces to mirror the characters’ inner worlds, letting the emotions build organically as the journey unfolds. In Japan, a striking image of Ho-jin and Mu-hee standing on opposite sides of a railway hints at a charged first encounter. “Because Japan is where they meet, we focused on capturing that fluttery anticipation―following the characters closely and letting the space speak,” Yoo shares. Go Youn-jung adds that filming early in Japan helped lock in their chemistry: “As we got to know each other and found our rhythm, that excitement naturally seeped into the performances.”

Canada becomes the backdrop as their feelings deepen, with sunsets, auroras, and quiet lakeside vistas amplifying the romance. “It’s where Ho-jin and Mu-hee really grow closer―and our on-set chemistry did too,” Kim Seon-ho says. Go echoes the sentiment: “It was pure joy to shoot, and it made the performances richer.” Even a single still of the two walking side by side against Canada’s vast landscape teases an achingly beautiful chapter to come.

In Italy, Yoo aimed to turn Ho-jin and Mu-hee’s time together into a private, romantic night―layering Europe’s wintry streets with warm yellow lights and gentle snowfall. “The vibe was fantastic throughout,” Kim says with a laugh. “Director Yoo and Go Youn-jung set such a great tone that I just rode the wave. Filming there was truly happy.”

Back home, the production spotlights everyday beauty over flashy sets. “In Korea, rather than going big and bold, we wanted to naturally highlight charming, lived-in spaces,” Yoo notes. “Viewers can have fun spotting iconic corners of Seoul in the places our characters frequent.”

By tailoring each location to the characters’ emotional beats, the series turns its settings into a narrative engine―promising not just romance, but a travelogue of feelings.

"Can This Love Be Translated?", featuring the sparkling chemistry of Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung and lush international backdrops, premieres January 16 on Netflix.
