Kim Eui-sung Wins Best Performance at SBS Drama Awards, Tells His 91-Year-Old Mom: “Please Turn the Heat On”

Kim Eui-sung took home the Best Performance Award.

The veteran actor was honored at the 2025 SBS Drama Awards, which aired live from SBS Prism Tower in Seoul on Dec. 31 at 8:50 p.m. KST.

Kim, who played the head of Rainbow Transport in Taxi Driver, opened his speech with disarming honesty: “I want to get better at acting, but it’s not easy.”

He continued, “I’ll be the kind of actor who shows up on time and doesn’t lose his cool, even on long shoots.”

Then he sent a tender message to his mother: “My mom is 91 this year and turns 92 next year. Even in the dead of winter, she says the house is warm and won’t turn the heat on. Mom, please turn the heat on.” The heartfelt plea drew smiles and applause from the crowd.
