The romance film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" is already heating up the holiday box office, topping 65,000 advance tickets just a day before release.
Per the Korean Film Council’s box office portal, pre-sales hit 65,428 as of 7:30 a.m. local time on the 23rd. That edges past the 63,706 day-before pre-sales for "Secret"―the year’s top-grossing romance/melodrama―which opened over the Lunar New Year holiday.
The youth melodrama follows Seo-yoon (Shin Si-a), who loses her memories each day, and Jae-won (Choo Young-woo), who gently helps her piece them back together as the two fight to hold on to their love. It’s based on Ichijo Misaki’s global bestseller, which has sold more than 1.3 million copies. Following the 2022 Japanese film of the same name―which drew 1.21 million admissions in Korea and sparked a local craze―the new Korean adaptation again aims straight for the heart.
Powered by the fresh chemistry of Choo Young-woo and Shin Si-a, this version leans into distinctly Korean sensibilities rather than mirroring the Japanese hit―prime fare for holiday date nights. Opening on Christmas Eve, it looks well positioned to capitalize on the season, and early pre-sales suggest that strategy is paying off.
"Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" opens in theaters December 24.
