Episode 5 of SBS’s rom-com "Dynamic Kiss" delivered a swoon-worthy, knight-in-shining-armor finish as Jang Ki-yong’s Gong Ji-hyeok stepped in to shield Ahn Eun-jin’s Go Da-rim.
According to Nielsen Korea, the Nov. 26 broadcast scored 6.2% in the Seoul capital area and 5.9% nationwide, winning its time slot and ranking No. 1 among weekday dramas across all channels. The episode peaked at 7.8%. In the advertiser-coveted 20-49 demographic, it averaged 1.2% with a high of 1.62%, the top rating among all Wednesday programs.
This week lit the fuse on a full-on love square. With Kim Moo-jun as photographer Kim Sun-woo joining the Mother TF task force and Woo Da-bi’s Yoo Ha-young jumping into the mix, sparks flew between Ji-hyeok and Sun-woo as they circled Da-rim―and the rom-com thrills kicked into high gear.
Earlier, Ji-hyeok saved Da-rim from loan-shark kidnappers in true leading-man fashion. Rattled by how much she lingered in his thoughts, he tried to downplay it as “just doing my job as team leader.” Da-rim offered an IOU and promised to repay him, but money wasn’t the point―her safety was. Half-teasing, half-earnest, Ji-hyeok declared, “You’re under my protection until the debt’s repaid,” then kept a cool facade while quietly looking out for her.
When the team was sent to pull weeds at a family park, Ji-hyeok and Da-rim stole a sweet moment by a tree from his childhood, and her offhand comment sparked his idea for an eco-themed marketing concept.
That pivot pulled everyone closer―and not always comfortably. As the task force prepared competing pitches, Sun-woo joined as the shoot’s photographer at Ha-young’s recommendation, putting the four leads on a collision course. With Cupid’s arrows flying every which way, the series’ romance tangled from triangle to square.
Ji-hyeok and Sun-woo’s subtle jabs over Da-rim provided plenty of laughs―two men who can’t confess, trying to one-up each other instead. Meanwhile, Ha-young discovered Sun-woo isn’t actually Da-rim’s husband, spiraled for a beat, then cheekily used the secret as her in to get closer to him.
During a team dinner, Ji-hyeok stepped outside, only to catch Sun-woo and Ha-young sharing a kiss. Because he still believes Sun-woo and Da-rim are married, the sight stunned him. Just then, Da-rim approached―and Ji-hyeok pulled her into an embrace to block the view. It was a full-on knight-in-shining-armor ending, driven by his wish to spare her feelings.
From start to finish, Episode 5 delivered fizzy rom-com tension and heart-fluttering payoffs. Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin maximize their characters’ charm, while newly center-stage Kim Moo-jun and Woo Da-bi add fresh, lovable energy―a combo that makes the messier romance even more addictive.
In the Episode 6 preview, Ji-hyeok hilariously misreads Sun-woo and Ha-young’s situation as an affair and digs himself in deeper. "Dynamic Kiss" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m., with Episode 6 set for Nov. 27.
