'Would You Marry Me' Twist: Jung So-min Is the Girl Who Once Comforted Choi Woo-shik

Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min’s fates were intertwined long before they met in the present.

In the Oct. 18 episode of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama "Would You Marry Me", Yoo Meri finally works up the courage to tell her mother she’s divorced. The truth comes out after Meri’s mom drops by her ex-husband Kim Woo-joo’s place and pieces everything together, leaving Meri torn up about breaking her mother’s heart.

Choi Woo-shik’s Kim Woo-joo steps in with steady support, urging Meri not to beat herself up and assuring her that her mom is ready to hear her truth. Bolstered by his encouragement, Meri comes clean―and her mother takes her side, telling her to let it go and live comfortably.

Meri then shares another bombshell: she’s hit on the coveted Beaute Palace housing lottery. Her mom warns her to keep the win under wraps―especially from her ex―until the dust settles.

Meanwhile, Meri’s ex-husband, also named Kim Woo-joo, reels after discovering his girlfriend Jeni has been two-timing him.

A lost wallet sparks the episode’s biggest reveal. When Meri asks Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-shik) to check his car for her mother’s wallet, he finds it―along with a childhood photo of Meri. It jogs a recent memory: days earlier, after walking a tipsy Meri to a motel, he’d spotted a framed picture among her things and was visibly shaken.

Flashbacks fill in the rest. Years ago, after losing his parents in an accident, a stranger girl handed young Woo-joo a doll and stayed by his side as he cried. That girl was Meri. The warmth she gave him became a lifeline he never forgot. Realizing the truth at last, Woo-joo chooses not to ask if she remembers; instead, he keeps quietly helping her, a way of repaying a debt he’s carried for years.

The hour closes with Meri’s ex-husband returning to Korea and reaching out to her―setting the stage for fresh complications between Meri and the two men named Kim Woo-joo.
