The original soundtrack "Golden" from the Netflix animation "KPop Demon Hunters" has topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the first time a song performed by a female K-pop vocalist has achieved this feat.
Billboard announced on the 11th (local time) that "Golden" climbed one spot from the previous week, overtaking Alex Warren's "Ordinary" to secure the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100.
"Golden" is the eighth K-pop related song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart, and notably, it is the first song performed by female artists to achieve this milestone. Until now, the chart's top spot had only been claimed by six songs from BTS and solo tracks from members JIMIN and JUNGKOOK.
During this tracking period, "Golden" saw a 9% increase in streaming numbers to 31.7 million, a 71% increase in radio airplay to 8.4 million, and a 35% increase in sales including downloads and CDs to 7,000 units.
"Golden" is performed by the fictional girl group "Huntr/x" from "KPop Demon Hunters," with contributions from composer EJAE, a former SM Entertainment trainee, singer Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. All three are Korean-Americans, with Billboard noting, "EJAE and Rei Ami were born in Seoul, and Audrey Nuna hails from New Jersey."
In addition, "Golden" previously topped the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 on the 1st of this month, achieving the remarkable feat of conquering the world's two major music charts.
