The vibrant first table read session for the new drama 'Spring of Youth' featuring Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, and Lee Seung-hyub has been unveiled.
Airing every Wednesday at 10:40 PM, with special broadcasts on May 6th and 7th, SBS's new drama 'Spring of Youth' (written by Kim Min-chul, directed by Kim Sung-yong) tells the story of 'Sagye,' a star from a top K-pop band who gets kicked out and starts a tumultuous college life, only to meet 'Kim Bom' and make a spectacular comeback in this youthful music romance.
Directed by Kim Sung-yong of 'The Veil' and 'My Dearest,' produced by FNC, and aired by SBS, known as the 'drama kingdom,' 'Spring of Youth' is drawing attention as the only 'youth band drama' following the legacy of the 2009 hit 'You're Beautiful.' It promises to birth new stars and expand the genre, capturing the audience's interest.
From the start of the table read, Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, and Lee Seung-hyub brought energy, laughter, and chemistry, setting a lively tone. Director Kim Sung-yong's warm encouragement and support opened the session, which was conducted in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, much like his gentle leadership.
Ha Yoo-jun, playing Sagye, the former leader of a top K-pop band who suddenly finds himself starting college life, appeared nervous at his first table read. However, as he read through the script, he embodied Sagye's 'super positive energy,' catching everyone's attention.
Park Ji-hoo, portraying Kim Bom, a genius composer in the practical music department who once dreamed of the Ivy League but became a professional part-timer after her mother's death six years ago, elevated the character's charm with her nuanced performance, balancing innocence and resilience.
Lee Seung-hyub, as Seo Tae-yang, a medical student and the best guitarist in the university band, who became the band leader purely on merit from his freshman year, amplified the character's intensity with his calm diction and occasional charismatic glances.
Additionally, seasoned actors like Jo Han-chul, Kim Jong-tae, Cha Chung-hwa, and Kim Byung-ki, along with rising stars Seo Hye-won, Kim Sun-min, Han Yoo-eun, and Han Jin-hee, enhanced the atmosphere. Jo Han-chul plays Jo Sang-hyun, the CEO of JO.Ent who made Sage's band a top star, Kim Jong-tae is Seo Min-chul, Seo Tae-yang's father and the hospital director, Cha Chung-hwa is Kim Bom's aunt and Bae Gyu-ri's mother, Kim Ja-young, and Kim Byung-ki is the university president, adding depth and humor to the story.
Seo Hye-won plays Bae Gyu-ri, Kim Bom's cousin and a passionate fan of Sagye, who becomes a key member of the band. Kim Sun-min is Gong Jin-gu, a drum prodigy in the band with Sagye, Kim Bom, and Seo Tae-yang. Han Yoo-eun is Jo Ji-na, the executive producer at JO.Ent, and Han Jin-hee is Yoon Seung-soo, the manager at JO.Ent, adding more flair to the drama.
Meanwhile, Ha Yoo-jun, Park Ji-hoo, and Lee Seung-hyub captured attention with their playful 'script selfie.' Their fresh, lovely, and warm visuals were stunning. In a group photo of five, Jo Han-chul's unexpectedly humorous expression and Cha Chung-hwa's energetic presence highlighted the delightful chemistry between the cast, raising expectations.
The production team expressed, "We were amazed by the actors' extraordinary passion from the table read. 'Spring of Youth,' which started beautifully from the first step, will air every Wednesday night throughout the spring of 2025, starting May 6th and 7th. Please look forward to it."
The first two episodes of 'Spring of Youth' will air consecutively on May 6th and 7th at 10:40 PM, followed by weekly episodes every Wednesday at the same time.
