[Music Y] Hip-Hop Girl Group YOUNG POSSE Continues Their Cinematic Challenge

[SBS Entertainment News | Kang Kyung-youn] The hip-hop girl group YOUNG POSSE, known for their unique concept in the K-pop scene, has returned with a distinctive theme that emphasizes cinematic visuals.

YOUNG POSSE has made a comeback with a special album featuring the title track "COLD," a collaboration with the indie band 10cm. They stated, "We consider our motto to be challenge. This album also features a variety of genres, so we hope many people will enjoy it along with the music video."

The music video for "COLD," unveiled at a showcase on the 4th, was filmed in Taiwan and features popular Taiwanese actor Tseng Jing-Hua. Members Do-eun and Wi Yeon-jeong play the lead roles, expressing different emotional arcs and conveying deep feelings of sorrow.

Wi Yeon-jeong shared, "Our director has lived in Taipei for over a decade, so filming in Taiwan wasn't difficult. However, the day of the shoot happened to be one of the coldest days in Taiwan. Interestingly, we filmed it in a very 'cold' manner, just like the title of the song."

The members emphasized that their chemistry with Tseng Jing-Hua during filming was exceptional. Do-eun expressed, "This was my first serious acting experience. I was quite nervous, but Tseng Jing-Hua had learned some Korean in advance, which helped ease my tension."

They also expressed excitement about how the collaboration with 10cm would add more color to YOUNG POSSE's music.

Jung Seon-hye said, "When we proposed the collaboration to 10cm through our company, they already knew about us and our music, which was encouraging. They happily accepted our proposal after listening to the demo." She added, "To show our gratitude for staying late with us, we gifted them a ruler."

YOUNG POSSE hopes to break the mold of K-pop music once again with this album.

Jung Seon-hye emphasized, "We had some fears about trying a new genre, but we enjoy challenges, so we feel proud and excited to take on more challenges this time. Our goal is to perform at world-renowned festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella."

YOUNG POSSE's special album "COLD" includes seven tracks: "Lovestargram," "Blue Dot," "Daddy Don't Leave Me," "Santa Claus Left Me No Goodz," and "Oskar's Drawing."
