Actor Robert Pattinson is raising expectations by taking on dual roles in Bong Joon-ho's new film 'Mickey 17'.

'Mickey 17' tells the unpredictable story of a disposable (expendable) worker named 'Mickey', who is sent on dangerous missions and is printed again upon death. As he faces his 17th life-threatening situation, 'Mickey 18' is printed under the assumption that 'Mickey 17' has died. Robert Pattinson plays both 'Mickey 17' and 'Mickey 18', who share the same face but have different identifiers.

'Mickey' is sent on perilous missions where his life hangs in the balance. When he dies, his memories and biological information are saved, and he is reprinted, making him an expendable. This practice is already illegal on Earth. For humanity's planetary colonization efforts, only one expendable is allowed per planet, and having more than one in existence is prohibited; if discovered, they face permanent deletion.

However, when 'Mickey 17' is presumed dead during a mission, 'Mickey 18' is printed, leading to a precarious coexistence between the two. The still image featuring both 'Mickey 17' and 'Mickey 18' raises questions about the fate that awaits these two characters who share the same face, name, and memories. Additionally, the natural interaction between the two Mickeys piques curiosity about how Robert Pattinson's dual role was filmed.

'Mickey 17' is portrayed as someone who accepts death as part of his job, feeling awkward and apologetic, while 'Mickey 18' is rebellious and straightforward. Robert Pattinson, known for his handsome and charismatic roles in blockbuster films like 'The Batman', 'Tenet', the 'Twilight' series, and 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', is set to showcase a different transformation in Bong Joon-ho's 'Mickey 17'. He has also starred in unique indie films such as 'Good Time', 'High Life', and 'The Lighthouse', where he played complex and sometimes awkward characters, demonstrating his versatility across genres and scales.

With 'Mickey 17' and 'Mickey 18', Robert Pattinson is ready to prove his acting prowess. He describes the character of 'Mickey' as "a hero who doesn't realize he is a hero," highlighting the intriguing nature of such a character. To portray the dual roles of 'Mickey 17' and 'Mickey 18', Pattinson underwent numerous voice experiments, utilized special effects makeup for his teeth and cheeks, and studied his walking style, indicating the significant effort he has put into this project. He is expected to deliver an unprecedented acting transformation in this film.

With Bong Joon-ho's unique worldview that combines entertainment and meaningful messages, the collaboration between the director and Robert Pattinson, who will showcase the contrasting charms of 'Mickey 17' and 'Mickey 18', is highly anticipated. 'Mickey 17' is set to premiere in South Korea on February 28 (Friday), making it the first to meet audiences.
