[SBS Star] ROSE Shares Why She Kissed Bruno Mars on the Cheek in 'APT.' Music Video

ROSÉ of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK shared her "APT." music video's behind-the-scenes stories. 

On December 1, ROSÉ appeared as a guest on JTBC's "Newsroom." 

During the interview with the anchorwoman, ROSÉ discussed her globally popular song "APT.," which features American singer Bruno Mars.

When asked about the inspiration behind turning a drinking game into a song, ROSÉ explained, "While I was working on the album overseas, I was with a group of foreign friends. I said, 'Let me teach you a Korean drinking game,' and introduced them to the 'Apartment' game. Their reaction was so great that I decided to expand on it. The song's story evolved into, 'Let's meet at the apartment and have fun together.'" 

ROSÉ also revealed that Bruno Mars coached her on the vocal techniques for "APT.," saying, "The song has a funky vibe, and he wanted me to really capture that. At first, I was pretty shy about singing such a funky song, but he helped me a lot. So, I worked hard to belt it out and bring his vision to life."
Regarding the pink-themed music video, ROSÉ shared, "Bruno had a very clear idea. Before we shot the music video, he casually sent a reference video and said, 'I think a pink background would look great.' From the outfits to the overall concept, he had a very vivid vision, and I learned a lot from him." 

Interestingly, the scene in the music video where ROSÉ gives Bruno Mars a kiss on the cheek was also his idea, she explained.

ROSÉ recounted, "Bruno asked me to kiss him on the cheek. It was a scene that matched the lyrics. When I asked, 'Why do I have to do it?' he said, 'I think it would look weird if I did it.'" 

Giggling hard, she continued, "So, I thought about it, and he was kind of right."
