K-pop boy group BIGBANG's G-DRAGON is being accused of receiving preferential treatment while in the military.
On June 25, a media outlet 'Dispatch' reported that G-DRAGON has been hospitalized in the military hospital in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do since June 19 due to pain in his ankle, and is expected to leave the hospital on June 28.
After being placed into the ROK Army's 3rd Infantry 'White Skull' Division upon completing his training on April 5, G-DRAGON has taken approximately 20 days of sick days and spent time in the hospital so far.

According to the report, unlike other soldiers in his rank who have to share the room with three to seven other soldiers, G-DRAGON is using the room that is specifically for colonels.
'Dispatch' said that G-DRAGON's room is equipped with an air conditioner, television, refrigerator, whereas there is none of that luxury in his fellow soldiers' room.
They also pointed out that the visiting hours are usually from 11AM to 5PM, but another soldier saw G-DRAGON's manager in his room after 5PM.

Regarding this issue, G-DRAGON's management agency YG Entertainment released an official statement soon after the report was made.
YG Entertainment said, "We checked with G-DRAGON's family members, and the report is not true at all. There are no rooms specifically for colonels, and he is not hospitalized because he is being treated differently."
They explained, "G-DRAGON has been suffering from severe ankle pain for a long time. That is why he had to undergo surgery recently. He is just trying to treat his ankle in the military hospital."

They added, "The room that he is staying is not a special room. G-DRAGON is staying in a regular room for his rank by himself. He is staying all by himself in order to avoid causing chaos when visitors visit other soldiers. Also, G-DRAGON is strictly following the military rules concerning sick leaves. He is even using his annual leaves while being treated in the hospital."
G-DRAGON has enlisted in the military to serve the mandatory duty on February 27, and expected to be discharged on November 26, 2019.
