On July 16, Netflix announced the production of the American version of the globally acclaimed Korean reality show 'Physical: 100', tentatively titled 'Physical: 100 USA'. This marks a significant step in the global expansion of the K-survival format 'Physical: 100'.
'Physical: 100' is an extreme survival game show where 100 participants, each proud of their top-notch physical condition, compete to determine who has the most perfect physique. Both Season 1 and Season 2 have stormed into the Netflix Global TOP 10 (Non-English TV Shows) in over 80 countries, with Season 1 being the first Korean reality show to clinch the global number one spot in this category.
'Physical: 100 USA' aims to replicate the original's intense tension and scale, featuring elite competitors from across the United States in sports, fitness, and military sectors, all vying for the title of the most perfect physique.
Netflix's Nonfiction Director, Yoo Ki-hwan, stated, "The Korean-made 'Physical: 100' has proven that Korean reality shows resonate globally, receiving explosive love from viewers worldwide. 'Physical: 100 USA' is expected to bring a new flavor of entertainment, further realizing the global expansion of our reality shows."
Yoo added, "Moreover, the third season produced in Korea, 'Physical: Asia', will see representatives from various Asian countries compete in the first-ever national showdown, promising to showcase an even more intense and evolved physical survival battle to the audience."
Following the US version, Netflix is also preparing a European version of the 'Physical: 100' format, indicating the rapid global spread of this survival reality series originating from Korea.
The fourth quarter will see the release of 'Physical: Asia', expanding the 'Physical: 100' series universe into Asia. This season, produced in Korea, will introduce the series' first national competition, with the strongest physical representatives from Asian countries clashing in a mega survival battle. Notably, the legendary boxing champion Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines is set to participate, generating significant buzz.
