Kim Min-sol and Seo Gyo-rim, who are competing for the top spot on the 2026 KLPGA Tour, started the tour's season finale side by side in a tie for 16th place.
The two players each shot an even-par 72 in the first round of the Daebo HausD Championship held at the Seowon Hills West and South courses in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
They trail the leading group by four strokes, with the destinations of this season's various titles set to be decided in the remaining rounds.
Kim Min-sol experienced a roller-coaster round with one eagle, three birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey, while Seo Gyo-rim also had a somewhat disappointing performance with four birdies and four bogeys.
Kim Min-sol currently leads the prize money standings while sitting second in the Player of the Year points race, whereas Seo Gyo-rim leads the Player of the Year points and is second in prize money.
The winner's prize for this tournament is 300 million won.
The Player of the Year points award 100 points to the winner, 50 points to the runner-up, and 48 points to third place.
The prize money ranking will flip if Seo Gyo-rim wins and Kim Min-sol finishes lower than sole second.
The Player of the Year title will go to Seo Gyo-rim if she finishes in the top 10 and Kim Min-sol fails to win.
Seo Gyo-rim, who skipped last week's S-OIL Championship due to pain in her right rib and returned for this tournament, said, "It wasn't bad considering it was my first match back in a while. My distance control on the par-3 holes was a bit off, but if I patch that up, I can play better tomorrow."
Regarding her rival Kim Min-sol, she revealed, "I felt that both of us were physically exhausted. I think the colder weather also had an impact."
Kim Min-sol shared, "Because various titles are on the line, the atmosphere was different from usual. The mood between Seo Gyo-rim and me was cautious. We usually joke around and talk, but today we were both so focused that we barely spoke."
Regarding their rivalry, she said, "I suppose it's inevitable to be conscious of it. I've spent this season doing my best, so regardless of the result, I will finish without regrets."
Hong Jin-hee, Seo Eo-jin, and amateur Moon Arin each recorded a 4-under 68 to tie for the lead.
The three players are aiming for their first career victories.
Yoo Hyun-jo, Kim Min-byul, Choi Eun-woo, Kim Min-sun, and Lee Dong-eun tied for fourth at 3-under 69, one stroke behind the leaders, while Jang Eun-soo, Han Jin-sun, Jung Yoon-ji, Go Ji-woo, and Lee Ye-won positioned themselves in a tie for ninth at 2-under 70.
Yoo Hyun-jo recorded an eagle on the par-4 13th hole and a hole-in-one on the par-3 14th hole.
Yoo Hyun-jo became the fourth player in history to record consecutive eagles, including a hole-in-one, across two holes.
