The defamation complaint filed by Lee Dong-ho, the eldest son of President Lee Jae-myung, against People Power Party Representative Joo Jin-woo—who raised allegations regarding the family's preferential golf outing—has been assigned to the Major Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced today (November 6) that "the defamation complaint filed by Lee Dong-ho against Representative Joo Jin-woo has been assigned to the Major Crime Investigation Division."
On October 29, Representative Joo held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Hall, raising allegations that President Lee played golf with his eldest son and daughter-in-law at Hansandae CC inside the Jinhae Naval Base during his summer vacation in August of last year, and traveled to a nearby lodging by helicopter.
At the time, he released a photo claiming it showed the helicopter parked at the helipad, and filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against President Lee and the First Lady on charges including abuse of power and embezzlement.
That complaint case is also currently under investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Division.
In response, Lee Dong-ho submitted a complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency yesterday, stating, "I did not visit Hansandae CC during the summer vacation period, nor did I play golf there."
After reviewing the complaint, the Major Crime Investigation Division is expected to summon the complainant and others for questioning.
