The Gunsan Police Station in Jeollabuk-do announced that it has apprehended and is investigating a woman in her 60s, designated as A, on charges of stabbing a man in her 60s whom she was seeing.

A is accused of getting into an argument with B, a man in her 60s whom she was in a relationship with, at her apartment in Soryong-dong, Gunsan, at around 5:42 a.m. today (November 6), during which she grabbed a weapon from the kitchen and stabbed B in the abdomen.

B was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment with no threat to his life.

Police who were dispatched following the report arrested A at the scene.

It was confirmed that the two had returned to A's residence after drinking alcohol together.

During police questioning, A stated that B had frequently assaulted her in the past.

However, it was found that no previous reports regarding dating violence had been filed with 112.

The police plan to investigate the motive for the crime as soon as A recovers from intoxication.

A police official stated that they are currently investigating the case under charges of special assault, but added that if it is determined later that there was an intent to kill, charges of attempted murder could be applied, and that they plan to apply for an arrest warrant considering the severity of the matter.
